The best low-effort, non-toxic way to clean your silver jewellery.

We love sterling silver for it’s super clean, brilliant shine and the way it allows the colour of our glass beads to pop. However, we used to hate the way it tarnished, which it naturally does when it oxidises… until we discovered this genius silver-cleaning eco-hack.

Low tox, low effort

This cleaning hack uses non-toxic household ingredients, and is way easier and more effective than commercial silver cleaner.

Super fast, non-toxic and low effort – winning all round.

We tested this technique on our beads and happily, it's completely safe for them.

The best eco-friendly way to clean silver

  1. Line a small bowl with aluminium foil.
  2. Drop in your silver jewellery so it’s touching as much aluminium as possible.
  3. Sprinkle a teaspoon of bicarb soda over the top.
  4. Cover with boiling water.
  5. Leave to sit for 10-20 minutes.
  6. Rinse your jewellery off under the tap (with the plug in in case you drop a piece!).
  7. Dry with a clean tea towel, and voilà! Your silver jewellery is sparkling like new again.
  8. Recycle the aluminium foil (scrunched into a fist-sized ball so the recycling machine magnets can attract it).

This genius cleaning hack will have your silver jewellery sparkling like new again in no time. It won’t prevent them from becoming tarnished again in the future, but now you know this trick you can bring them back to life again in a flash.
